In celebration of the release of the Flyknit Roshe Run, we thought we would revisit some of the best Nike references to date in the history of Hip Hop. The amount of people asking after these sneaker is a pretty clear indication of how fast these sneakers are going to sell out. That’s the recipe of L.A based brand The Quiet Life. They’re back and their latest drop is currently in store at GAG. We’re warning you though, this gear has the same effect as walking into a house and smelling fresh baked cookies – It’s gonna get inhaled.

Andy Mueller has ten fingers on each hand, with each individual finger in a different creative pie. Also a member of ART DUMP, he’s one of those guys who turns everything he touches into something you want (NEED).

We’ve all been looking forward to this drop and it hasn’t disappointed. They’ve absolutely treated us with a range of Tees and most of all HATS. SO for those of you itching to get out of your woolly winter clothes QL has just granted you permission. These guys never fail to produce innovative patterns and colour palettes – a result of their strong focus on design. LOSERS

LOSERS is the name and sneakers are the game. Japan-based LOSERS use sneakers as a medium to express their “uniquely Japanese aesthetic”. Striving to create with ideas revolving around the concept of ‘iki’ (beauty and perseverance)—LOSERS don’t fall short on innovation and are the latest brand to join us at GAG!

LOSERS has strong roots lying deep in Japanese history and culture with their signature V-shaped toe feature paying homage to traditional footwear. Their overarching colour scheme is based on the concept of “48 Browns and 100 Grays” from the Edo period of the 17th–19th century in Japanese history. A time when common folk were prevented from wearing bright colours or anything associated with decadence. From there, the people combined 48 shades of brown and 100 shades of grey to create subtle colour differences and express themselves.

Designed by painter and artist Sneakerwolf, LOSERS embodies the underdog and sticking to your guns…which just so happens to be their slogan. Regardless of whether you are into their rich history or not, you can’t help but appreciate how sick these sneakers are. Check out our range here.

NORSE PROJECTS

Who ever said girls have a better choice of clothing straight up lied – or hadn’t seen the most recent drop from Norse Projects at GAG.

Hailing from Copenhagan these guys work within the constraints of classic styles, forcing them take detail to a whole new level. They don’t settle for “just a crewneck sweater in five different colours” they design and deliver so many refreshing new takes on the classics we know and love.

These freakish Danes-of-detail meticulously pack the basics with obsessive detail and world-class craftsmanship. Nothing is diluted. Their materials are quality, with many of their pieces being fashioned out of 100% cotton or merino. They cut out the fillers and deliver something you oughta be proud to wear, because they are.

Some people love added bells and whistles, extra buttons and domes for no practical reasons - Not these guys, they just give you everything you need and nothing you don’t. The result is lifelong quality and admirable luxe. This is clothing

you can wear and not look as though you’re obviously wearing “designer made darling” but still allows you to feel that way. It’s so effin’ effortless - we feel bad saying that because we know the painstaking hours that would have gone into the craftsmanship of all of these pieces.

So seriously pop in store or online and treat yourself to some fine of Denmark’s finest. The only negative criticism we have is that it’s too hard to choose what piece you want. Shop Norse here.

W magazine’s September cover doesn’t just have Rihanna on it, it has Rihanna wearing Meadowlark’s 9K gold “Thorn” septum ring from their newest season on it.

We’re always proud as punch here at GAG when New Zealand talent owns the International stage. The shoot is bold and fierce – with shots that are blurred and out of focus as if they were actually shooting an animal in the wild. Meadow Lark’s septum ring acts as a centre piece to surrounding pieces from Alexander McQueen, Donna Karan, Ashley Lloyd, Michel Kors and many more of fashion’s royalty. It was said Riri took charge of the shoot, turning up with her own mental mood board, wanting to channel the power of Grace Jones and the sophistication of Josephine Barker; Meadowlark obviously fit the criteria.

 And if featuring in a fashion spread with Rihanna - who not long ago was named 2014’s Fashion Icon at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards in New York - wasn’t enough for the talented NZ brand, the shoot was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott - icons in their own right. These photograpers have worked with the best in fashion and their work is aesthetically mesmerizing. Bold colours and rich grains…we could go on, check their work out here. 

 Whether you’re a fan of Riri or not you’ve got to give it to Meadowlark for delivering statement pieces time after time.

Always so spot on with their collection themes and always nailing a simple and all encapsulating title, Wood Wood’s latest Autumn/Winter 2014 offering ‘Heroes’ is on it’s way to GAG and we are pretty bloody excited about it.

Drawing on inspiration from the 1961 war film ‘The Guns of Navarone’ and the quintessential heroes portrayed in movies of that era, the collection features uniform-like heavy wools, utilitarian detailing and the DIY-spirit of the resistance movement. The collection is pulled together with the sportswear edge the brand is known for, reaching the perfect balance of style and function. A stand out piece (part of our own selection coming to GAG) is this season’s version of the men’s Paradiski shirt featuring an all over illustrative print of various historic heroes from Fausto Coppi to Tupac Shakur.
